Compelling video report from Robert Greenwald and Brave New Foundation.
This thirteen minute film is extremely well produced and features interviews with journalists, intel specialists and drone strike victims’ relatives in Khyber Pakhtunhwa, Pakistan.
We are being lied to by the Obama administration about the conduct of the drone “signature strikes,” which execute civilians based on their apparent behavior supposedly matching the profiles of terrorists.
In the well-documented case reported in this film, a tribal “jirga” (a meeting of elders to resolve local disputes) held in Datta Khel, a small village in northwest Pakistan, was targeted by four U.S. missiles, killing at least 40 innocent civilians.
The Datta Khel jirga was being held in broad daylight, in an open area and with the prior knowledge of local Pakistan military commanders. Someone in the U.S. military chain of command, which ultimately leads to the commander-in-chief, made a horrific mistake. They should be held to account.
The reckless killing of innocent Pakistani civilians continues unconstrained by congressional oversight. Congress must step up and do their job.
Please watch this short film and take action.
