Corvallis Peace & Justice Groups, including Veterans For Peace, Women’s Int’l League for Peace & Freedom (WILPF), and Alternatives To War, will host the following events to memorialize those lost in the 1945 attacks on innocent civilians by the United States and to suggest actions to eliminate nuclear weapons worldwide:
August 3 through 6: Benton County Fair Peace Booth
Benton County Fairgrounds, Main exhibit hall
Several local peace and justice groups are hosting a fair booth again this year. This year’s theme is “Never again…Hiroshima – Nagasaki.” Exhibits and literature will help fair goers appreciate the magnitude of the atrocities committed in 1945, 71 years ago, and learn how to take action to eliminate nuclear weapons.
If you would like to volunteer for a shift in the booth, please see this SignUp Genius link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4ea9ae2fa3f85-2014

At the conclusion of the ceremony, all present are invited to walk the short distance to the Van Buren Bridge to watch as boats travel down river carrying lanterns for peace and for the remembrance of all those who lost lives in the bombings.
